Piano Chord Progressions: Ii-V-I in Common Major Keys (Music Stand Chord Charts Book 7)
Diana English [English, Diana]The ii–V–I progression is a common chord progression used in a wide variety of music genres, including jazz, R&B, pop, rock, and country. In a major key, the ii chord is minor, the V chord is major and, the I chord is major. This chord chart shows the notes in the ii-V-I chord progression in root positions and in one set of inversions. This is a sample only of two of the many ways you can play this chord progression.
Start by playing the chords in the positions shown with your right hand, along with the root of each chord with your left hand. Once you are comfortable playing the chord progression in all the keys shown, and in the two sets of inversions, you will be ready to try playing them in different inversions and switching from right hand to left hand.
